Is cooling important?

We generally recommend always milling with coolant.


  1. Work with internal cooling and external cooling

  2. Work with internal cooling

  3. Work with external cooling

We recommend a high coolant pressure, preferably up to 70 bar.

If you want to work with a lower cooling pressure, you have to keep the speed and the feed per number (fz) low at the beginning


Which geometries and shapes can be produced?

Our standard program is based on the following cutter shapes

Which tool holders can be used?

We recommend all precision tool holders that are available on the market.

  • Shrink chuck

  • Precise collets

  • Power chucks

  • Hydraulic expansion chucks

We do not recommend Weldon clamping fixtures.

Can special shapes be produced?

Yes, all kinds of special shapes can be produced.

  • Ceramic end mills with  Cutting length with 3xd and more

  • Finishing end mills with 4, 5, 6, 7 or more cutting edges

  • Conical cutter

  • Drilling tools

  • Reamers

  • Special shapes according to DXF contours


Which machines are suitable  themselves  preferably?

Swissceramilll can be used on all CNC machines.

There are no restrictions on size or speed.

Swissceramill can be used for both high-performance milling and high-speed milling.


Regardless of the machine performance, Swissceramill can always be used to achieve the desired results.

At low speeds, the potential of the tool is not used, but it is much better than with carbide tools in terms of surface quality and dimensional accuracy.

Swissceramill can be used on all CNC machines.

  • Machines with rpm 6`000 and higher

  • Machines with speeds of up to 100,000 rpm

The most common machines for high-performance machining (HPC) are machines with speeds of 6,000 - 30,000 rpm

  • Try to mill with a medium feed rate and ae = 1xd and ap = 1.5xd (full slot milling)

  • Finishing possible with a medium feed rate ae = 0.05xd and ap = 2xd

Most of the common high-speed milling machines (high-speed cutting) are machines with a speed of 30,000 - 100,000

  • Try to mill a full slot with a high feed rate and ae = 0.05-0.2xd and ap = 0.1-0.5xd

  • Finishing with feed rate fz = 0.02-0-06 ae = 0.02xd and ap = 2xd possible

What is the right procedure to start with Swissceramill?

First step

  • Select the milling strategy with which you want to mill

  • Look at our cutting data recommendation at the beginning

  • Use our recommendation to get started with programming

  • Start a cad / cam simulation

  • Check the simulation for possible collisions or other errors.

  • Start of milling with 70-80% of the programmed feed

  • Increase the feed rate to 100% or higher.


  • Different materials require different cutting parameters

  • If the tensile stress of a material is high, the values (vc and fz) should be selected lower.


  • Use white ceramic only with high pressure coolant

  • Green ceramic with coolant preferred, but not necessary
